BLACK , WHITE , AND SOME SHADES OF GREY
Achromatopsia .
How many of you have heard about this disorder? Not many i m sure.
For those who have not heard about it let me brief you all on this , this is a rare eye disorder , that is caused by damage to the cerebral cortex of the brain, rather than abnormalities in the cells of the eye’s retina.
Simplifying it ,here, the victims lose their power to see colors.
Sure, they can see the things but their world is just black,white and some shades of grey.
Now what if i tell you all to put yourselves in their shoes for a while?
Envisage your world without colors , and conceptualize living with only black,white and some shades of grey?
just imagine how the globe will look like ?
what all will you miss on ?
Not denying the struggle or the hardships that the victims of this disease face, but no colors? only monochrome? wouldn’t it be interesting?
We would see no colors. We would see no harm in others .
The major social issue of racism would be minimized . We would see people for what they are not for what they look like. Objections on black and whites? discrimination? denied access because of outward appearances? diminished.
Sure this monochrome makes you feel uncomfortable , uneasy ,makes things seems complicated & hopeless.
Upsets the notion of the poly-chromatic.
Okay world be a little dark place to live in maybe gloomy for some …but when you look carefully you would realize that the current poly-chromatic world is still seen in black and white…colors just rectifies outlooks of it. But the things and people they are just black and white , even consideration of the grey is rare!
And that’s sad. Why everything has to be black and white? boy or girl? gay or straight?
Why does everything have to have a reason? maybe some things don’t have reasons? maybe they are destined to be for reason than they fact that they are.
“There is so much grey to the story nothing is so black and white . Every story is is so much more than a truth or a lie. And for me the grey area of the story is the part that interests me the most.”
I will not try to glorify it , justify it, or condone it. But there’s sure some order to it. Not everything can be classified into ugly or beautiful.
So i feel, grey sure is not an attractive color, but it is the only color that describes the world most accurately.
